Bill was the most open kind and generous friend. From the first time we stayed in Lorgues and he offered us a weekend at the Rocabella apartment in Monaco (we told our sons we were going to stay at the YMCA!) then he introduced us to Belinda and we spent many years in her villa and kept in touch with Bill. His music was paramount to him, and once at a memorable lunch out of a Fellini film another guest stood up and sang opera! We battled on the tennis court, we loved walking on the CdeB property in the spring, I also celebrated my 60th there. Bill was so alive and I am unsurprised that he did not feel life had failed him. Linda was a perfect addition to his life and I know he cherished her. Once he sailed across the Atlantic to St Lucia in the ARC race and presented us with 3 cases of wine, how's that for abstinence - or friendship. Bill we will miss you sorely, and look forward to a memorial when this pandemic has passed and we get back from St Lucia!!
